Review: A Need So Beautiful

A Need So Beautiful
A Need So Beautiful by Suzanne Young

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was a total WOW for me! I loved it!

Charlotte has had these weird kind of psychic urges for as long as she can remember. Only now, they are intensifying in strength and frequency. When they hit, she feel drawn, ultimately, to a person. When she finds the person in question, she sees certain events from their point of view. This leads her to tell that person something they need to hear. Something that will give them closure. The odd part is that as soon as she delivers the message, that person immediately forgets her, like she was never there.

This story sucked me in so completely. I could feel the love between Charlotte and her boyfriend Harlin. Charlotte's unconditional acceptance of her best friend. Her love for her foster Mom and siblings was palpable. But what really got me were Charlotte's flashes when she is viewing a subjects life from their point of view. Suzanne Young's eloquence in these scenes was so emotionally powerful! I was reading this at work with tears just streaming down my face and trying to hide it so everyone wouldn't come over and ask what was wrong! Then add to that Charlotte not wanting to be forgotten...I tried to put myself in her shoes. Thinking how I would process the knowledge that everyone I knew and loved would eventually forget me...GAH! What an awful realization to have to live with.

I remember hearing a lot of hype about this story when it came out and it has been on my "to-read" list for quite a long time. I'm just so sorry I didn't get around to it until now! Suzanne Young is a gifted writer, she knows how to pull the emotions out of the reader. I will be rereading this beautiful story many, many times. Just loved it!
