Review: Tris and Izzie

Tris and Izzie
Tris and Izzie by Mette Ivie Harrison

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I had assumed by the title that this was supposed to be a modern YA retelling of "Tristan & Isolde" myth. It that was the intention, the only parts of the myth that remained were the names of the characters and the fact that there was a love triangle, actually it was more of a square with everyone wanting someone else. So much potential...wasted.

To say this story was disappointing would be a huge understatement. The whole magical element felt so forced and completely unneccesary! Izzie is a snot who thinks she knows what is best for everyone and all her manipulations backfire on her. Mark is weak and way to effeminate to be believable. Branna is way to "butch" and pretentious...she kind of struck me as a younger version of Coach Beast on Glee. And Tristan is out of time...his dialog felt like it was imported from the Victorian era. Completely ridiculous!
