Review: Destined

Destined
Destined by Aprilynne Pike

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

GoodReads Synopsis: Laurel now knows the truth: Yuki is a rare Winter faerie, the most powerful—and deadly—of all, and Klea plans to use her to help conquer and destroy Avalon. But Klea's reach extends far beyond one wild Winter faerie. With Tamani, David, and Chelsea by her side, Laurel prepares to face what may be Avalon's final days, in the stunning conclusion to the Wings series.

My Thoughts: This was a great conclusion to the Wings saga! There was even a bonus alternate ending. But I thought the ending as written was the better, more appropriate one, of the two.

This book was the final battle…kind of a winner takes over Avalon. While I’m not a fan of the epic battle scenes…this one was good because it was broken up. Sometimes characters went in search of something, while others battled on. So it wasn’t all slicing and dicing.

I really enjoyed the Arthurian elements that were brought in to aid the battle. That was another element that made the battle more exciting.

Pike did a great job of neatly tying up the loose ends, while keeping the pace fast and gut wrenching. I am sad to see this series come to an end…I really enjoyed Laurel, Tamani, and David. I wouldn’t be heartbroken if Pike decided to visit them again at a later date, but after the alternate ending, I don’t think she will.
