Review: Passion

Passion
Passion by Lauren Kate

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

GoodReads Synopsis: Luce would die for Daniel.

And she has. Over and over again. Throughout time, Luce and Daniel have found each other, only to be painfully torn apart: Luce dead, Daniel left broken and alone. But perhaps it doesn’t need to be that way. . .

Luce is certain that something—or someone—in a past life can help her in her present one. So she begins the most important journey of this lifetime . . . going back eternities to witness firsthand her romances with Daniel . . . and finally unlock the key to making their love last.

Cam and the legions of angels and Outcasts are desperate to catch Luce, but none are as frantic as Daniel. He chases Luce through their shared pasts, terrified of what might happen if she rewrites history.

Because their romance for the ages could go up in flames . . . forever.

My Thoughts: This was not a favorite book of mine. The whole point was for Luce to get a better understanding of “the curse”. I believe this could have been accomplished without a whole book dedicated to just that. I found the whole traveling back through time and watching herself die over and over again very tedious. We also spent some time with Daniel, reliving some of his time in between Luce’s lives, and actually learned a lot more about the curse through him.

The other purpose of this book was to set up the “final conflict” that will be fought in the fourth and last book, “Rapture”. Prior to this installment, we assumed that the series was going to focused on breaking the curse that keeps killing Luce. While that is still important, it has become secondary to a much grander scheme Lucifer has revealed.

After this book, I am anxious to get back to the “present” and see what Luce, Daniel, the Outcasts and the Nephilim will be faced with and if the curse will be broken for once and for all.
